Lumie Bodyclock Elite
The Lumie Bodyclock Elite allows you to adjust the time it takes for the lamp to reach full brightness (or vice versa) to fit as close as possible with your natural pattern when waking up or falling asleep. And the sunset function can be adjusted to dim to a low level night light rather then fully off.
The Bodyclock Elite works by synchronising your circadian rhythm (your body's natural sleep/wake pattern in response to sunrise and sunset) which in turn helps regulate your melatonin levels.
Melatonin is a hormone which is produced in the pineal gland at the base of your brain. It is important in regulating sleep and maintaining your circadian rhythm. Studies have shown that melatonin production decreases with age and can be disrupted in night shift workers. By harnessing your body's natural response to light, the Bodyclock keeps your melatonin levels high at night to make you sleepy, and low in the day to keep you alert.
Natural sleep patterns give you more energy throughout the day, improve your concentration levels and even improve your mood.
The Bodyclock Elite also comes with a host of useful features. The sunrise function can finish with a flashing light, an alarm or music, depending on how easy you find it to be woken up. And you can quickly change settings and choose for a sunset only option when you want to lie in on the weekends. The Bodyclock features a digital radio, but also has an SD memory card slot for playing MP3s, and an audio line-in allowing it to be connected to a Walkman or MP3 player, all of which can be used instead of beeps as the audio alarm.
For the Bodyclock Elite Lumie has teamed up with Meditainment® to add a soothing meditation feature to the device. The Bodyclock stores a choice of twelve listening features, including two guided meditations (for more information visit: www.meditainment.com ). These features can be played as part of the sunrise of sunset, or during sleep. There is also a white noise function to blank out noise whilst sleeping.
